Old Hymns

Do you find that you miss the old hymns you used to sing in church when you were a child?  I do.  Sometimes one of the tunes will float through my head and I start to try to sing them, and I have forgotten the words.  That makes me sad.  Some of those hymns were great reminders of the faithfulness of God, and reiterated the doctrines that we were learning in church.  Don't get me wrong.  I do enjoy the modern worships songs and the more contemporary music, but there is just something about the old hymns that is special.  While I was having devotions today,  the hymn, "Break Thou the Bread of Life" entered my head.  I started to try to sing it, but couldn't remember the words, just the tune.  I really felt like the Lord was trying to talk to me through this hymn, so I went online to try to find the words.  I found cyber hymnal and found the words and the music.  The Lord has given me several words lately to help me get through some of our current circumstances and today he gave me the words from Daniel in the Message.  It is from Daniel 10:18 and it is spoken by the angel to Daniel.  Daniel is seeing the angel and is scared stiff.  The angels words were, "Don't be afraid, friend.  Peace.  Everything is going to be all right.  Take courage.  Be strong."  These are along the same lines as the words the Lord gave me on the first Sunday of the New year.  Clearly, it is a truth that the Lord wants me to grasp a hold of.  Are you struggling with difficult circumstances or wondering what in the world the Lord is doing with your life?  Maybe these words are meant for you as well!

Break Thou the bread of life, dear Lord, to me,
As Thou didst break the loaves beside the sea;
Beyond the sacred page I seek Thee, Lord;
My spirit pants for Thee, O living Word.
Bless Thou the truth, dear Lord, to me, to me,
As Thou didst bless the bread by Galilee;
Then shall all bondage cease, all fetters fall;
And I shall find my peace, my all in all.
Thou art the bread of life, O Lord, to me,
Thy holy Word the truth that saveth me;
Give me to eat and live with Thee above;
Teach me to love Thy truth, for Thou art love.
O send Thy Spirit, Lord, now unto me,
That He may touch my eyes, and make me see:
Show me the truth concealed within Thy Word,
And in Thy Book revealed I see the Lord.

Happy New Year...a little late

New year, new look for the blog.  The picture is from our trip over Christmas to Blue Springs State Park in Florida.  We went with the Beates family to see the amazing Manatees that frequent this area.  It was a wonderful trip, and they do have a live streaming feed if you would like to investigate it.  Heres the website:  http://www.floridastateparks.org/bluespring/  What's new for the new year?  I don't know but I'm sure it will be full of exciting new adventures.  Sometimes that scares me as it is always difficult not to know what the future holds.  Sometimes it excites me because since you don't know, it could be something really amazing!  Whatever it does hold, I do know that the Lord will be with us through whatever we may face.  We finally finished working on the house in Columbia.  Now we are just waiting for it to sell.  It was a lot of hard work and some discouraging situations along the way, but it is a relief to be done and we hope some new family will enjoy it as much as we have.  I didn't get to many pictures, but here is one with the new tile.

After we finished the house, we headed to Orlando to visit the Schreck clan for Christmas and visit with Josh and Alli. Mom had a lot of work done on her new house and it looks great.  I'm sure she will have many happy days ahead of her in the new place!

Headed home for the New Year.  Had a visit from Evan Barber and we ate pizza and played Mario.  Then it was back to school.  Isabear and I have spent several days resting and recuperating from all the holiday excursions.  She turned 12 on New Years day and the old girl just ain't what she used to be.  She hasn't been feeling well lately but we are working hard at helping her to feel better.  She has been a faithful friend and a great traveling buddy for me over these last few years so she deserves some time to just lay around and rest.  That's a very quick update of the last 2 months!
